Council Housing Applications
Posted on September 10th, 2025
The local Housing Operations team has confirmed that you do not need to ask your GP for a letter to support your council housing application. The council team will record with you your medical conditions and additional relevant information. A confirmatory letter from the GP doesn’t add to this process or the number of points you will be entitled to. Should you wish for a “medical summary” (a home visit summary with only priority1 +2 and medications and allergies detailed) to help summarise your conditions for the housing team, we can provide this.
If you still wish to receive a supporting letter from a GP, there will be a charge of £31 as this is private/non-NHS work. If you believe you are still being asked to provide a letter from us by the housing team, please go back to them and explain they need to contact us directly with your written permission. All requests can be sent to the Practice e-mail nhsh.gp55930-admin@nhs.scot
